Bass: “The topwater for bass is really starting to pick up,” says tournament angler Kenny Pannell. “Buzzbaits and Pop-Rs really work good on the bass when they are following the shad into the creeks and pockets. The bass have started moving in that direction. Square-bill crankbaits will really start to get good here soon. The square-bill crankbaits that are shad-colored and have that pattern they call Splatter Back work really good on Neely Henry.”
Crappie: “The crappie fishing is getting better as the crappie have started moving shallow,” Kenny said. “In October, I have the best luck in the middle part of the lake fishing the piers. It’s a lot of hit-and-miss, but I’ll finally hit a pier and catch 10 good ones. Jigs are the way to go on piers.”
